Current Projects

Act 46
  • Background: In the 2015 session, Vermont's General Assembly enacted Act 46 a measure to "encourage" the consolidation of Vermont school districts in the name of efficiency and cost savings.  Information about the new law and Craftsbury School Board's engagement with this issue is available here.
Collaboration with Sterling College
  • Background: Late in 2014, Craftsbury Schools and Sterling College began discussions in earnest about the significant benefits to students each could realize through shared facilities and collaborative programming. In March 2015, the School Board sought and obtained from Town voters the authorization to make decisions about ownership of the Industrial Arts building, which freed up the Board to include that building in its discussions with Sterling. In September 2015, Sterling College offered, and  the Craftsbury School Board endorsed, a proposed Memorandum of Understanding as a concrete basis for further discussions. Details and documents pertaining to this collaboration are available here.
Energy Efficiency in the Graded School
  • Background: In March 2015, Craftsbury voters authorized the use of funds from the Green Mountain Power "Good Neighbor Fund" to improve energy efficiency at the graded school.
  • An energy audit was performed and the Energy Auditors' Report was released in September 2015.
Community Linkage
  • Background: All Boards in the OSSU are participating in an effort to improve the connections between school boards and their respective communities. One of the first projects was a community-wide survey, administered in late Winter/early Spring 2015. Review the project's aims, the results from Craftsbury and other towns on the OSSU site.
